what are some reasons people think the government should or should not regulate production of electric cars?

The government may have failed to evaluate the cost and pollution that occurs when the cars are charged. The charging process uses electricity from large coal fired turbines etc. the process is not 100% efficient and causes loss (transfer) of energy.
