PLEASE HELPP!!!!. What does this mean if the original coordinates are A(2,3) B(0,6) C(-3,0) D(1,4) and they ask write the coordinates of the image ABCD after a reflection in the line x=1 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A B C D are points. Connect the point to look at the original figure. Do that, then I will tell you what to do next.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay I just did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now draw y = x line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

done

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool. Now do you remember what to do if you want to reflect it over the y axis? x axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dont you change the x or y coordinates?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You on the right track...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I change my y coordinates to 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, hold on now. If I had (x,y) and wanted to take the reflection across the y axis then it would be: (x,-y) Across x axis: (-x, y) y = x (y, x) x = x coordinate number y = y coordinate number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if I wanted to reflect (1,2) across the y = x line, then it would become (2,1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you ! I just needed a reminder. haha

You re welcome
