What is 17=p-3-3p

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

on the right side, what do you get when you combine like terms?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since the -3p is negative, you do the opposite and add it to the other side, which gives you 17=-2p-3, Next take 3 and since it is negative you will change it to a positive and add to 17. Then you have 20=-2p. Next divide both sides by -2. Which results in p being -10. Hope this makes sense(:
