Where do we get carbohydrates? What important role do they play in the function of our body?

The basic carbohydrate units are dietary in source. That said, bodies start with that small set of basic units and modify them to make a whole range of more complex or specialized carbohydrates.

basically carbohydrates are used to obtain energy...but it has many other functions as well...for eg forming a complex with protein called glycoprotein which acts as signal receptor.
