15/9=?/18

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

When we talk about fractions, we can multiply the numbers above and below the line by any number without altering it's result. Since there's an equal, we call a "proportion". \[\frac{ 15 }{ 9 }=\frac{ x }{ 18 }\] Se let's multiply in cross: \[(15)(18)=9x\] Let's do some operating: \[270=9x\] Let's find the value of x \[\frac{ 270 }{ 9 }=x\] x=30 So the answer is: \[\frac{ 15 }{ 9 }=\frac{ 30 }{ 18 }\]
