Does anybody know how to do expanded sentences?
Basically, you just break about the sentence into parts of speech. I don't know how your formatting will be required... We always just used colored pencils. Anyways, for a sentence like: He walked away, it would break down to he=pronoun, walked=verb, away=adverb. I've also seen assignments called expanded sentences where you add and replace words for the types of speech. Can you elaborate on what your assignment is? I can probably help better that way.
To expand sentences you can use prepositional phrases, subordinate clauses like therefore,so,before however etc ,coordinate clause like and,but etc and in some cases comma.
@annaleafe I have to expand the sentence: Cicero once quipped "man is a political animal," using a FONSBAY (for, or, nor, so, but, and, yet). Basically I have to add another conjoining sentence to that one by using one of the FONSBAY conjunctions.
