Money spent = $1.25 x 1000 = $1250

$750 profit means the sales of those 1000 bumper stickers must total to $1250 + $750 = $2000. So 1000 bumper stickers must sell for $2000. So now we can let x be the price of the bumper stickers. The price per bumper sticker we need can be found by solving

1000x = $2000

Because 1000 bumper stickets multiplied by some dollar amount will get us the $2000 we need to make. So now we just solvefor x by dividing both sides by 1000. 

1000x   = $2000
-----        -----
1000          1000

x = $2.00
