why plants normally found in aquatic conditions do not survive in arid conditions

Aquatic? Do you mean to say "wet" conditions or conditions where there is an ample supply of water? The answer requires a bit of logical thinking. If a plant needs a lot of water, why do you think it CAN'T survive in arid (dry) conditions? Because that environment does not satisfy the plant's higher requirement of water.
