A red water balloon is thrown horizontally from the top of a bridge. At the same instant, a yellow water balloon is dropped off the bridge from the same height. Compare the time of fall for the two balloons. Assume air resistance is negligible.
The red water balloon hits the ground first. The two balloons hit the ground at the same time. The time of fall depends on the amount of water placed in each of the balloons. The yellow balloon hits the ground first.
Same time - if you are ignoring air resistance, gravity is the only force, and it acts identically on both balloons. The horizontal velocity of one balloon does not affect the *vertical* effects of gravity.
while gravity affects both, the red balloon has to travel a longer distance until it hits the ground so it'd say the yellow balloon hits the ground first
I dont get it?

the red balloon travels a longer distance because it's thrown horizontaly while the yellow one it's dropped vertically|dw:1379273775181:dw|
