When will I learn? I just WASTED 20 minutes, typing typing typing to try to help someone understand something. In the end she basically said "I guessed and the answer was right" and then left, no thank-you and no medal. It's so defeating.
@Preetha Ma'am?
Hello DebbieG, first of all thanks for trying to help someone here on OpenStudy. We understand the problem that you and some more users are having. We'll take care of this problem from now, though, we are trying to encourage the askers to not leave the discussion going on in the thread in-between without any response, any thanks, any medal, but still, some are left untouched. May be, the user of whom, you are talking about, had to go somewhere urgently, but I suppose,it is her mistake to leave the discussion by just saying "I guessed and the answer is right" . Please PM me the username of the user and I will try to explain her , how to give best response to the user who tried to help someone, and to not leave the conversation in between. From this, an instant idea had come in my mind as a solution for this problem. Don't worry bro, we will try to resolve this problem, for now, you keep helping others as a good helper, you will surely get reward for that as a medal, and we will try to encourage the users to give a proper response to the helpers. Thanks!
Thanks @mathslover . I hope it was ok to post this here; at the time that I did so, I was very discouraged and needed to vent a bit. I will also add that, although I like to see that smartscore tick upward :) I am never helping "for the medal", I help here because I enjoy it and it can be very rewarding. But the medal is a nice "thanks" and it is nice to feel appreciated. At the time I helped this student, I had just popped onto the site "for a minute" while I was taking a break from grading a stack of exams, which I really wanted to finish up, and I spent longer than I should have helping this student, so that added to my frustration.
Yes, I can understand the cause for your frustration @debbieG . Please keep helping in the same way on OpenStudy, we will take care of such problems.
@DebbieG...so true...i encountered with the same problem...i started explaining and then the guy said cut the craap out...i dnt want explanation...just give me d ans:/
