What is a easy way to remember significant figures?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry but what do you mean? do you mean how to round off to 3sf/2sf ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like significant numbers with the zeros

OpenStudy (anonymous):

example .02500 has 4 significant numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you always pay attention to the first number other than 0. like for eg. 0.0045678 , this is in 5sf. and if u want round it off to 3sf, it'll be 0.00457.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did i answer your q?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh that's confusing.. how is it 5 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait the zeros to the left don't count right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Count from the very first numbr other than 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay and if its to the right then you count the 0 right?(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nad if the number does not have zeroes at the start, for eg. 4.569, it is in 4sf.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and* ur welcome :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay :)
