How to evaluate the following limits: 1. lim x--->5 of 8? 2. lim x--->0.001 (x+7) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first one is continuous: \[ \lim_{x\to 5}8=8 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[ \lim_{x\to 0.001}(x+7)=7.001 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain to me how you got those answers? please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Ranaa there are limit laws. lol. we're studying the same topic right now :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the first one \[\lim_{x \rightarrow a} c = c \] c is the constant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ that's the limit law :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the 2nd one, you just have to add 7 to .001. it only means that that x is slowly approaching 7.001 but will never touch it.

thank you :) @ienarancillo
