need help Simpliying an expression! Will draw it out

Whenever you see a negative sign on a pwer or a degree just flip the base. So it could also be written as -1000^1/3 When the power is... 1/2 means square root 1/3 means cube root. 1/4 will mean fourth root and so on.... So here -1000^1/3 would be cube root of -1000 which will be -10. Because -10 times -10 times -10 gives -1000 and thus the cube root of -1000 is -10. Understood? :)
