So now it is 5 + 4n + 36 = -3 Clean it up a bit so 4n+41=-3 next you subtract 41 from both sides because you do the inverse so it is -3 - 41|dw:1379305354424:dw| = -44 so now it is 4n=-44 again to the inverse. 4n is multiplication, and your goal is to get the variable,n, by itself. so divide by four on both sides (what you do to one side of the equation you do to the other) so n=-11 thats it
