The volume of a cube is 64 cubic feet. Which is the surface area? The answer is 96ft^2 how did they solve it?

OpenStudy (nubeer):

A cube has all sides of same length.. vol. of cube = l^3 you have volume.. find the length .. can u do that first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And is it 32

OpenStudy (nubeer):

the value of l?? No.. try doing again 64 = l^3 take cube root on both side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 4?

OpenStudy (nubeer):

yes.. so, l = 4 means all sides have length 4 now do u know the formula for surface area of cube?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6a^2

OpenStudy (nubeer):

yeah.. basically "a" is the length.. so just plug in the values you will get the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok I get it! thank you!! :)

OpenStudy (nubeer):

you're welcome..
