Sinx-Cosx=0

2npi/4

How is it that you got the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you have something like a - b = 0, it is only true if a and b are equal. like, 2 -2 = 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with that logic, find a number for x such that sinx = cosx and you have your answer

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Here is a method for getting the answer, Multiply both sides by sin x + cos x, giving us,\[\Large \sin^2x - \cos^2x=0\]Use your square identity to write everything in terms of sine.\[\Large \sin^2x-(1-\sin^2x)=0\] From here, we can solve for sin x.
