when ethanoyl chloride reacts with methyl amine an amide is formed .what is the structure of the amide formed ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CH3-CO-Cl + H2N-CH3 --> CH3-CO-NH-CH3 + HCl i.e. N-methylethanamide is produced. Probably an SN2 reaction involving attack by the non-bonding pair of electrons on the nitrogen on the carbon of the carbonyl group.
