the last part is cut off......but there are three parts and it helps to draw a picture... originally you have a square with length and width both k. you should know to find area is lengthxwidth. so area of original is k*k first, there was size added. it says p units to both length and width . so now the length and width are both (k+p)*(k+p). From that you should find the area and compare it to the original
that is the are. both length and width are now p+k...... so the area is (p+k)(p+k)
For the second part... we are back at the original cloth... and she REMOVED P units from each side. Thus our sides are now equal to k-p.... the area is then (k-p)*(k-p). you can find it and compare the area to the original

I wouldve never figured that out, thank you! the third part is Jackie cut off a strip of cloth from one side of the tablecloth and pasted the strip on an adjacent side of the tablecloth to increase its length by p units and decrease its width by p units. ok... so from what we JUST figured out for those two... it is similar except one side has grown and one side has shrunk. so now it is NOT a square but a rectangle with length of (k+p) and a width of (k-p) ..... so area is (k+p)(k-p)
