Rule for a linear function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would I do that?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

what class is this for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An Algebra class, why do you ask?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

so what is the slope of this line?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

I ask because often people call linear the wrong thing, but in this situation it does not matter.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

pick any two points and find the slope

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

do you want the equation for the linear function? I am confused about the question. Rule?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Write a rule for the linear function in the table" Then the table is up there.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

for any two points \[(x_0,y_0)and(x_1,y_1)\]the slope will be given by \[slope=\frac{y_1-y_0}{x_1-x_0}\] what is the slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wouldn't it be Undefined?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I came up with y = -4 x or f{x} = -4x by trial and error. Any one else agree?
