PLEASE HELP!!! Solve. a-3 5(a-2) 3a+6 --- - ------ = ------ 9 4 2

I'd multiply the entire problem by 36 to eliminate the fractions. 36 (everything in the above equation) which leaves: 4(a-3) -45(a-2) = 18(3a + 6) Use the distributive property to simplify then solve for a. Does that help?

a little bit, i don't see how or why you'd really multiply everything by 36. My attempt at this problem was to make all the numbers in the denominator 36.

You can--it does the same thing. You're just eliminating the need to worry about the fractions...they're a pain
