The average income, I, in dollars, of a lawyer with an age of x years, is modeled with the following function I= -425x^2+45,500-650,00 What is the youngest age for which the average income of a lawyer is $250,000?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there seems to be a mistake in the function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how so?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 45,500x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool. and 65,000?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

650,000*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to solve this we plug in I = 250,000, and we want to find x [years] 250,000 = -425x^2 +45,000x - 650,000 425x^2 - 45,000x + 900,000 = 0 and solve for x using the quadratic equation. you will get two values of x. only one should make sense

Awesome, thank you!

glad i could help :) lmk if you have follow-up questions

will do gonna try and solve it now!
