Trigonometry 13 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

for each statement, describe k. a. tan(k times 90degrees)=0 b. sec(k times 90degrees) is undefined

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Not exactly.... For (a) you want: \(\Large \tan(k 90*)=0\) Where is tanx=0? Where sin(x)=0, right? So (in degrees) that is 0, 180, 360, 450, etc. NOT EVERY 90 degrees (which is what you get if you let k be any integer), but every 180 degrees. So you need to set k so that it captures that, e.g: let k=2n for n every integer. Then k gets you every EVEN integer.

OpenStudy (debbieg):

You can think through (b) similiarly. Just think about what condition makes sec(x) undefined, and where that occurs.

I don't get it that much but thank you! now I can kind of get an idea of the question
