OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which transition represents the emission of the longest wavelength photon? Why?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

the wavelength of a photon is inversely related to its energy, so a long wavelength photon must be a "low" energy photon. a low energy photon is produced from a low energy transition, between two states that are close together, rather than far apart.
