Describing velocity changes: In each of the following situations you will be asked to refer to the mathematical definitions and the concepts associated with the number line. Note that being more positive is the same as being less negative and so on. (a) Suppose an object undergoes a change in velocity from +1 m/s to +4 m/s. Is its velocity becoming more positive or less positive ? What is meant by more positive? less positive? Is the acceleration positive or negative?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

it refers to the x-axis in the number line. as it goes father from zero, does it become more positive or negative + acceleration meaning it is picking up speed, it's going faster. therefore, it goes farther from zero to the right side towards to the positive infinity - acceleration is known as decelerate, meaning it is slowing down or going to the left or negative infinity.
