What is the equation of the axis of symmetry of y=-(1/2)x^2+4x+6?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

what is the vertex?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It doesnt have a vertext.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

sure it does if we have an equation of the form y=ax^2+bx+c then \[x=\frac{-b}{2a}\]is the x coordinate of the vertex

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

this will also the the equation for the line of symmetry

It still looks confusing. And i don't understand it.
