What is the slope of the line between (-4, 4) and (-1, -2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope is rise over run

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a) what is the rise? b) what is the run?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you get differences by subtracting, then taking the absolute so to get the run: abs -4 -(-1) abs -4 +1 abs -3 =3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the rise is the change in y value, again taking the abs of difference: abs y2 - y1 abs (-2)-(4) abs -6 =6 the rise is 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6/+3 the slope is -2
