Every individual has hopes and dreams to succeed in college, but things don’t go as planned all the time. As a result, it can cause you to not reach your highest potential. It’s hard for some students to make the transition from high school to college because having complete freedom to do whatever you like can be a task within itself. For example, deciding when and how long you stay in a particular class and things of that nature. So there is much more to explain and guide you along in order to make the best of your college experience and also succeed in the classroom. Becoming a successful college student can be obtained within just a few simple steps. In high school rumor has it that college is a time to socialize and completely dismiss the idea of education, however, this is a complete lie. With a few weeks in to my freshman year of college I am already experiencing the hardships of balancing study habits and other extracurricular activities. Being successful in college is harder than you think and takes time and patience. First and foremost, you must do some research and figure out which school suits you best as a person and the career of your choice. If you come from a private school or were homeschooled you may have lenience towards a smaller school. However, if you come from a large high school and like the feel of a highly populated campus then you may choose a larger school, such as University of Georgia. If you are indecisive on which college would suit you best, take a tour of the campus and ask your tour guide any questions that may concern you. Another option would be to stay with a friend who attends the college you are interested in. This is a great way to get a feel for what it would be like to live there. Once you are accepted into the college of your like, you will need to sign up for classes. Guidance counselors are extremely helpful in this process and can assist you in organizing your schedule. When signing up for classes, keep in mind your time frame and your studying habits. Often times college student’s bite off more than they can chew and end up withdrawing or failing out of the class. Setting high goals for yourself is a great way to motivate and help you strive in the classroom. After being assigned to the appropriate classes, you will be given a list of materials and books to have on the first day. Always make sure you are prepared for class with the appropriate materials, such as paper, pencils, and your history book. Next, you will need to focus on what is necessary to keep your stress level down and your grades up. One technique to keep your stress level down is getting enough sleep and completing assignments prior to the due date. Studying for quizzes and tests is always a struggle, however, if each day you take the time to review your notes and homework you will be well on your way to acing that test. Getting involved in clubs and events that your college has to offer can also help keep you focused on what is important. Staying pro active and surrounding yourself with people who support and encourage you is also a very big factor in your success in college. Finally, enjoy your independence and recognize the fact that you are becoming an independent adult. Buying your own food, paying your own bills, and creating your own friendships are all part of the experience of college and soon to be life. If you go into college with a determined mindset there is a very high chance you will succeed in school. Individuals who prioritize school will have a life that provides for them and a stable job. There are key steps in determining your path in college and if you can follow those steps than college will be a piece of cake.
instead of-- Often times college student’s bite off more than they can chew and end up withdrawing or failing out of the class. You could change it to--- Often times college student’s bite off more than they can chew, then end up withdrawing or failing out of the class. SO it wont be considered a fragment.
dismiss the idea of education,---- instead of the comma put ; a semi cola instead.
okay are my other commas in the correct places and do I need more anywhere?
And is there any more fragments?
