What is the domain of the function y = x + 7?
were you able to get anywhere?
Do you know what the domain is a reference to?
this is all i know A. All real numbers B. x ≥ 7 C. x ≤ 7 D. x ≥ -7
hint: domain is the set of numbers that are allowed to be plugged in for x (ie it is the set of all allowed inputs of a function)
Here is a page on "Functions versus Relations." It talks about the Domain and Range. http://www.purplemath.com/modules/fcns.htm Once you understand those terms, I think you will find this to be a pretty easy problem. Terminology is very important in math. There is a lot of terminology to get used to. But the more you work with it, the easier it gets! Just like learning any other foreign language, it is all about understanding the funny sounding words! And yes, I just implied that math is a foreign language.
thank you!
np. Have fun!
Let us know if you still have any questions on the meaning of domain or range. Like I said, it all comes down to what those mean for this type of question. Jim's short definition is great, and that web page is great, but sometimes people still need to hear it a different way.
ok thank you very much!
