ABC sporting goods company produces baseball gloves. There fixed monthly production cost is $8,000 with a per glove cost of $5. XYZ Sporting goods company also produces baseball gloves. Their fixed monthly production is $10,000 with a per glove cost of $3. Find the value of x, the number of gloves produced monthly, so that the total monthly production cost is the same for both companies.

explain please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8000 + 5x = 10,000 + 3x I think this is correct.....now just solve for x. Can you do that ?

I understand the formula just not the rational

an explanation :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to set them equal to each other. But I am not sure of the + 5x and the + 3x. I am not sure if you add them or subtract them. Do you think it is saying that each glove cost $3 and $5 to make ? If that is the case, I think you add them. You might need to get a second opinion on this.

thank you

I am sorry that I couldn't explain it better
