OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

I want my Mommy

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Here is the problem and solution. Why is it that answer and not simply \[x \le -5\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 1 first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{2x+6}{x+1}<1\] \[\frac{2x+6}{x+1}-1<0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will make a bet that you solved by multiplying both sides of the equation by \(x+1\) which you cannot do because you don't know it if is positive or negative

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Exactly what I done :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it is a common mistake then you have to do a bunch of algebra

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

What would be the next step?

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Well, I can plug it in my TI Inspire and solve it now... thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):
