Why would the density of air effect air resistance acting on an falling object?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Air resistance acts on the surface of a falling object. The denser the air, the greater the air resistance would be on the falling object. This is why objects fall slower in humid air. Hope that helped.

think of it this way if a small piece of metal.. and put it in water.. it ll sink..but if u put it in ketchup.. it ll sink wayyy slower.. right?

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

There's also the buoyancy force, the more dense the air, the greater the buoyancy force on the object.
