Which statement is true? A. |–12| = –12 B. |–4| < 3 C. |–5| > 0 D. |–8| < |8|
What do you think?
Read the explanation of absolute value your previous post about |-4|.
i thought it was A but im terrible at math ;-;
Absolute value is a DISTANCE - the distance that the quantity INSIDE the abs value sign is from 0. So, abs value can NEVER be negative.
this is no help *facepalm*
That eliminates A. And for any number, that number and the opposite (negative) of that number are the same distance from 0.
How is it no help? ARe you reading what is being said?? You answered A, so you don't understand that an absolute value of ANY number CAN'T be negative. I'm explaining that to you, and WHY it can't, so that you can UNDERSTAND something better. That is "no help", only if you aren't interested in learning and better understanding that which you don't understand. If you just keep saying "I can't do this, I'm terrible at math" and not even attempting to learn, you will continue to not understand it.
nvmmmm
its obviously C due to absolute value so 5 is greater than 0
