(1.0×10^−15)/(4.2×10^−7) answer in two sig figs

OpenStudy (aaronq):

can you use a calculator or no?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.4x10^-9 in two sig figs. That's what I got, I typed in (1.0e-15)/(4.2e-7) to get my answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but mine is not working

OpenStudy (aaronq):

On the TI-30XIIS you need to push the 2nd key at the top left corner first, and then the x-1 button right above the 7 key to get the e command.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8.1 times 10^-23 thats what I got

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 0.000000002380952380952381

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are you typing in? Leave the 10 out of the problem and stick with the e command, the e command acts as the 10. Type whatever number you'd like to multiply, then e, then the amount 10 is multiplied by.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For this equation, in the first parenthesis "Type whatever number you'd like to multiply, then e, then the amount 10 is multiplied by." divided by the second number in parenthesis, "Type whatever number you'd like to multiply, then e, then the amount 10 is multiplied by."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did that do any good?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes so you just round it then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, round after your finished with significant figures.
