you would subtract x from 5x and that would be: 4x+8=6x-2(x-4). then you would distribute the -2 to the parentheses and that would be: 4x+8=6x-2x+8. Then you would put like terms together and get 4x+8=4x+8subtract 8 from both sides, then subtract 4 from both sides and you would come out with 0=0
