write a polynomial function of minimum degree in standard form with real coefficients whose zeros include those listed -2, 1+2i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well a minimum of 2 intercepts means that the minimum degree is 2 So we can use the formula: \[y=a(x-r)(x-s)\] Where r and s are the x-intercept values. So we have: \[y=a(x-(-2))(x-(1+2i))=a(x+2)(x-2i-1)\] Now you can choose ANY \(a\) value and expand and simplify the equation to obtain your equation!
