Which scale degree stays the same when changing from a major to a minor scale? Third. Seventeenth. Fifth. Sixth.

Will give medal to best answer.

I think it is the third.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is the fifth scale degree. The third scale degree is lowered when changing from a major to a minor scale. In a harmonic minor scale, the sixth degree is lowered as well. In both major and minor scales, the fifth scale degree (known as V, or dominant) always stays the same. Kind of a long-winded answer, but I wanted to put it in context for you :)
