Select the correct inequality for the graph below. A solid line passing through points (1, 2) and (2, 5) has shading below. y < 3x - 1 y ≤ 3x - 1 y ≥ 3x - 1 y > 3x - 1

I'm just all out confused on this 1 lol..

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

look at options, notice that all equations are same, oly the inequality sign is different

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm guessing -1 is the y intercept on the cordinate plane

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and 3x is the slope possibly

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yup ! here is the thing :- shading below the line : < solid line : =

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

combine them both, it becomes \(\le\)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

oly one option has that inequality !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm kinda confused what u mean shading below the line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait i think i get it.. all that blue shading right?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Yes !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean by solid line? like the line itself its a solid line and not a dotted line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if so then it would be <=

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Correct ! you got it !! here the line is solid, its not dotted so we must put = also, simple < wont do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it, thanks!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

np :) dotted means - DONT TOUCH ME solid means - INCLUDE ME ALSO

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

u wil understand wat they mean exactly, after u do few problems :) give it time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha got it

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

good :D
