How did templars become freemasons?and when?

The tie between Templars and Freemasons is mostly theory and conjecture. But it does make for great fiction. The most believable explanation for the Freemasons' origins started way back in the early medieval as an organization of stonemasons and engineers which continued on to today. It's like a special club or brotherhood, to put it very simply, that doesn't make much of a show of itself. That air of secrecy led to a lot of speculation on who and what they really are, much like what people think lies in the deepest vaults of Vatican City. As for the Templars, they were very real and their origins can be traced back to warriors and knights that protected pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land. Eventually, they grew pretty powerful -- one of the requirements for joining the Templars was to surrender your earthly belongings which, if you were a noble, included land and wealth -- and eventually set up one of the first banking systems in the world. Unfortunately, as the years went on, they also made a number of powerful enemies one of which was King Philip IV of France who was in debt to them. Instead of paying them back, however, he and his puppet Pope in Avignon drummed up charges of heresy (easy to do since the Knights were very secret) and arrested many of the them. Many of the leaders were tortured, tried, and publicly executed. The order essentially ceased to exist after that. Surviving members either disappeared or were absorbed into other military orders, such as the Knights Hospitaller.

That means a lot to me...infact i've researched enough on this thing...now i am wondering what is the relation between ILLUMINATI and FREEMASONRY?...the relation between Knight templars and Freemasons is obvious...they merged into each other...and one more thing i m working on right now is, in what form do these organizations exist today?and how do they still effect us..i've watched a few documentries on this...still it's kinda ambiguous
