PB has endpoints at -2 and 12. What is the coordinate of its midpoint?

Please teach me how to solve this, don't just give answers. Thanks

hartnn (hartnn):

to get the midpoint, just take the average of endpoints add them and divide by 2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that would equal 5

hartnn (hartnn):

yes, 5 is your correct midpoint :)

hartnn (hartnn):

to get the mid-point , you always take average, whether the point has one co-ordinate or 2 when points are in x,y plane, points have form (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) their mid point will be ((x1+x2) / 2 , (y1+y2) /2) just the average of individual co-ordinates :) any doubts ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That makes sense :) would you mind helping me with 2 more problems?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hartnn

hartnn (hartnn):

sure, no problem

The midpoint of CD is E(-1,0). One endpoint is C(5,2). What are the coordinates of the other endpoint?
