Write an equality for this graph? Someone help? * :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

First observe that its an absolute value function

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

so, lets find its vertex

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

can u tell wat the vertex is from graph ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

thats correct !! vertex = (h, k) = (5, 1)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Next, write the absolute value equation :- y = |x-h| + k

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

y = |x-5| + 1 but we want an inequality, not an equation ! so we need to change the = sign to either less than or greater than

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Now, look at graph again. the shading is above the function, so its greater than y > |x-5| + 1

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

wow ! you're super smart !!!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

nothing, we're done :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

np :) you will have to change IF the graph is upside down. but we dont have to do for the present graph as it is straight up

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

:)
