4/5 x 10/9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is what i did i dont know if i did correctly tho |dw:1379634909949:dw|

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

It is actually 8/9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how? can you show please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OHHH so you just multiply across then put it in the simplest form????

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Okay, so this is how I do it. I do not think of it as fraction - I think of it as a regular equation: (4/5) * (10/9) I know 4 divided by 5 is 0.8 I know 10 divided by 9 is 1.1111111 Now my equation is 0.8 * 1.1111111 If I use my calculator 0.8 * 1.1111111 = 0.8888888 = (8/9)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OMG i see now..so for multiplication you just multiply across and for diving, adding, and subtracting you have to make the denominator the same right?

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

I know, I know. My strategy is a little complicated, but I HATE fractions in my equations.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol thanks!

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

I hope I helped.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Thanks for giving me a medal and fanning! :-D ;]

welcome :)
