HELP!!! A river flows due south at 2.5 m s^-1 while the boat takes a heading across the river at 35 degrees north of west. The boat can travel at a maximum speed of 7.2 m s^-1. 1.) Determine the magnitude and direction of the resultant velocity mathematically. 2.) In what direction should the captain head the ship in order to travel due west across the river? 3. ) If the boat's destination is 775 m due west, how long will it take the boat to get there?

The best way to do these kind of equations is to draw them out|dw:1379640604705:dw| So use your trig knowledge to find the resulting x and y velocity of the boat, and then add the x and y components of the boat and the river.
