how did the colonists respond to the stamp act? and why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically this lead to the colonists dumping a bunch of tea into the Boston harbor, they were rioting and one person actually ended up shooting at a british guard. the guards were just guarding the harbor making sure the colonists didnt do anything stupid. and as the shot was fired the british guards were then allowed to retaliate, only a couple of colonists were killed, many of them fled. The event was called the Boston Massacre but the name kinda makes it seem like many people died. It was more like a very minor riot, the colonists were harassing the "authority".

I hope that helps, if not send me a message and I can try explaining it in greater detail haha.
