Determine the intervals on which the following function is continuous. F(x)= x2-6x+5 / x2-1 on which interval is f continuous?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pretty much every function you know, unless it is written as a piecewise function, is continuous on its doman so you are really being asked "find the domain of \(f(x)=\frac{x^2-6x+5}{x^2-1}\)"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is straightforward i hope since it is rational the only numbers that are not included in the domain are the ones that make the denominator equal to zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that you have to factor right and which gives me x-5/ x+1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh no set the denominator equal to zero and solve for \(x\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay.. Thanks I got the answer.. I made a mistake.
