can someone help me solve derivatives: 7x^3-4/x^4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't understand why we leave 7x^3 alone and not find the derivative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the quotient rule for derivatives \[(v*du/dx- u*dv/dx)/v^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can we use the sum and difference rule?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, if you are taking the derivative of the form f(x)/g(x) you have to use the quotient rule: (f(x)*g'(x)-g(x)*f'(x))/(g(x))^2 in Newton's notation or as TheDoctorRules showed in Leibniz's notation
