We wish to determine the area between the inner and outer circles. All that is known is that the length of the straight line – chord - is 40 feet. (The accompanying drawing shows a large circle with a smaller circle in the center of it. The chord stretches from one side of the larger circle, touches the top of the smaller inner circle, and finishes at the other side of the larger circle.)
