The population of a state is 3,450,167 on January 1 and 3,592,186 on December 31 of the same year. Estimate the average increase in the population a)per year? b)per hour? I don't understand how to do this problem at all; am I supposed to use a formula or something?

OpenStudy (loser66):

difference is 3592186-3450167=142019 that the average increase per year. It means in 1 year, the amount of citizens increases 142019 people 1 year = 1year*12 month*30days*24hours= 8640 hours the average of increasing number / hour is 142019/8640 hours= 16.45
