I asked my friend who has like straight A's in math and she told me that she got -4 as her answer.... but how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by applying all the steps. -the first step is to add 3c to both sides- on the side with -3c, that gets you: 0 c on the other one with c, it gets you: 4 c can you see how that works?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3c-c=-5+12 -4c=7 c=-7/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where did you guys get the -4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am so confused!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh you divided it!!!!!!! I got it!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I have blond moments!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can either add 3c to both sides or you can subtract one c from both sides -3c minus c -4 c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c is positive in the right hand side.we have to bring similar terms together.so we move the positive c to the left hand side.on going to opposite side,it becomes begative c.
