Find the domain and range of f(x)=√(3x-7) -0.5

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Any ideas?

OpenStudy (dls):

Square root and domain,Oh well, always make sure that square root doesn't get a negative value, and move on.

OpenStudy (waheguru):

this is the square root function

OpenStudy (waheguru):

OpenStudy (waheguru):

From the base graph this is horizontally compressed by 1/3 moves right by 7 units and down by 0.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know what it is I just don't know what brackets to use

OpenStudy (waheguru):

are you sure the equation is not like f(x) = √(3(x-7))-0.5

OpenStudy (waheguru):

If its not you will have to factor out the 3 from x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it is the one you just wrote

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I messed up on the parentheses, sorry

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Remembr the way I wrote is very important or else the whole thing changes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah got it

OpenStudy (waheguru):

domain is xer|x>7 range is yer|y>-.05 is that what you got?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it is
