I would say anticipate the action. When you anticipate the action, you get some great pictures. You are stay as far back as possible from the action, you might miss some good opportunities to get some nice shots. This link I found is quite useful for sports photography. I agree with @m_sarvesh! If you anticipate the action, you can prepare yourself better to capture the upcoming action. Even if it doesn't tally perfectly with what you were expecting, it does however help you get better shots :) And by the way, nice article - very informative!
